Carriers based in Miami-Dade County often run routes that leave the state, and the paperwork that trips them up most is fuel tax. Here's what a new Miami carrier should have in place.

IFTA: one license, quarterly returns, records kept in Florida

If Florida is your base jurisdiction, FLHSMV issues your IFTA license and two decals per qualified vehicle each calendar year. Keep a copy of the license in each truck and put the decals on the outside of the vehicle. Fuel taxes for every member jurisdiction you drove in are reported and paid to Florida each quarter, and Florida passes them on. FLHSMV also requires Florida-based licensees to keep, or make available, their operational records in Florida, and their trucks must put some miles on Florida roads.

Our Full setup includes IFTA and IRP account setup. On the Monthly plan, IFTA returns are included with annual billing, or $49 per return with monthly billing.

Don't forget the federal side

Your new-entrant safety audit comes within 12 months after you begin operations. UCR is due every year, and your operating authority needs a BOC-3 on file. We cover all three in our setup packages.

How we help, and what it costs

Government and third-party fees (UCR, IRP, IFTA decals, the process agent fee) are paid by you and aren't part of our price. Full details are on the pricing page.
